Beginning September 9, 2019 City Hall will be open Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. City Hall will be closed on Fridays.
The City Council agreed to this pilot program as a means to attract and retain employees, increase employee morale, and offer work/life balance, as well as provide extended hours for residents Monday through Thursday.
Many El Mirage residents have to take time out of their work day to access City services such as paying a water bill or getting a building permit. Extended City hours will allow residents to access City services before or after their work day.
City staff will report back to the City Council in October 2020 with feedback related to having City Hall closed on Friday.
Many City services will be offered on Fridays, including the El Mirage senior center, code enforcement, and victim assistance. Essential police and fire services will continue seven days a week, as will calls for emergency services such as water line breaks.
City employees will continue to work 40 hours a week, many of whom will work four 10-hour days to provide extended service Monday through Thursday.

Yes, the City will work with new customers on an individual, as-needed, basis to ensure they have access to new utility services on Fridays. The City will continue the current practice of avoiding scheduled turn offs on Fridays.
No, utility bill due dates will not be affected by City Hall being closed on Fridays.
Building Safety and Engineering inspections will be offered Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (summer months) and 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (non-summer months).
